then the 360 may not compete but the wii will still kick its ass in sales. Its just the way this generation has gone.
And maybe the 360 hasn't doubled the sales because you are only comparing the arcade. Compare the elite - which is more fair as it has much more features in line with the ps3- and then ask yourself about sales :)

the timing of sony's pricecut is hugely dependant on the yen weakening. They are simply losing too much money with every console they send abroad. Factoring in the exchange rates, the ps3 has been given a pricecut of 40% by sony since launch and the system wasn't profitable at launch. This is a major factor.
My bet is on an october/november price cut although a small price cut is possible in the new financial year.
I could set up my own rumour about sony slaying an inncoent lamb everytime a wii or xbox 360 is sold - hey it appears we don't need actual evidence to make accusations any more.

according to this vgchartz has actually undertracked the 360 slightly and overtracked the ps3 and wii slightly. Not everything is a conspiracy you know.

wii sales make both console sales look ridiculous.
Wii has sold nearly as much this year as the 360 has in its lifetime.
And despite being released at the sametime the wii has trashed sony's dominance and has taken a 25-30 million lead over it in just over 2 years. Wii sales at the end of 2007 are still greater than ps3 sales were at the end of 2008.
The wii is amazing, but fanboys leave it out because thinking about makes all their arguments irre...
